Observed many ice cream scoops between use stored in the container of ice cream with the ice cream scoop handle making direct contact with the ice cream at the time of inspection. In-use utensils must be stored in a clean, dry location; in running water; or in hot water above 135°F. If utensils are stored in food, the handles must be stored above the surface of the food. All in-use utensils were properly stored at time of inspection. Corrective Action: Corrected at time of inspection.

Observed front handwash sink water did not get hotter than room temperature after several minutes of continuous operation. Handwash sinks must be supplied with hot water of at least 100°F, soap and an approved hand drying provision at all times. Facilities must be maintained in a condition that promotes handwashing. Instructed PIC to use other handwash sink until water temperature at front sink was corrected. Corrective Action: Corrected at time of inspection.

Inspector's notes

Observed y-valve attached to end of mop sink downstream from AVB (Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker) system. A chemical dispenser was also attached to the y valve at time of inspection. Mop sink was not in use and was on with continuous pressure at time of inspection. Shut-offs, including chemical dispensers, Y-valves, and sprayer nozzles, are not approved for continuous installation downstream from atmospheric vacuum breakers. Disconnected Y-valve from mop sink and spoke to PIC about approved methods of attaching/removing the chemical dispenser from the mop sink. Corrective Action: Corrected at time of inspection.
